The fourth Yucatan Theatre Congress 2024 has officially begun, offering a series of workshops and keynote lectures. These are set to be delivered by leading experts in various theatre disciplines. The aim of the congress is to nurture emerging talent and provide a deeper understanding of the legal framework that local artists can use to protect their work.
Selene Medina, a Yucatecan actress and one of the event's organizers, explained that the congress has been designed as a platform for training and development for budding actors, directors, playwrights, and other theatre professionals. The event, which wraps up on Saturday, May 25th, will address topics such as the legal challenges faced by the artistic community and how to safeguard their work through registration.
Medina further noted that these types of gatherings offer artists techniques and tools tailored to the specific needs of each region. In the case of Yucatan, the goal is to bolster local talent and stimulate the growth of the region's theatre scene.
