Major Drug Haul Uncovered on Cozumel Shorelines

For the fourth day in a row, the sea has deposited drug packages onto the shores of Cozumel. This time, a package suspected to contain marijuana was found and secured at Playa Chen Rio by the National Guard and the Mexican Army. The package was then handed over to the relevant authorities.

The discovery occurred on Thursday afternoon during a routine patrol as part of joint operations between the National Guard and the Mexican Army. During their land surveillance and crime prevention tours along the island's coastline, they discovered a rectangular package. It was approximately 22 centimeters long, 14 wide, and 4 high. The package, wrapped in brown tape with no label, contained a compact and damp green mass. The substance's composition suggested it could be a type of narcotic, with an estimated weight of one kilogram.

The authorities promptly secured and removed the package, transferring it to the State Prosecutor's Office to be handed over to the appropriate authority. It's worth noting that this marks the eighth seizure of suspected drugs on the island's coastal area this week.
