“Outrage in Akumal: Locals Block Road for Repairs Amid Maya Train Chaos”

A group of people gathered outside in a clearing with trees in the background, some are standing while others seem to be listening to a speaker.

Residents of Akumal blocked the main access road to their town this morning, preventing heavy vehicles involved in the Maya Train construction project from entering. The blockade was a demand for the Federation to repair their local roads, which have been significantly damaged during the railway project's construction.

The protesters used rocks and logs to block the road and claimed that the Federation had previously committed to repairing the roads, particularly the road leading to Uxuxubi, Solidaridad. However, with only a month left until the project's completion, the promised repairs have not been carried out.

The local residents decided to initiate the protest in an attempt to force the authorities to commit to the repairs. They expressed concerns that the Federation might not fulfill their promise, as they've observed a decrease in the number of workers and machinery in the area.

The protesters appealed to Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa to intervene and ensure the repairs are carried out. They declared their intent to maintain the blockade until a high-ranking authority provides a definite date for the repairs.
