A public transportation van, operated by Playa Express, veered off the Cancún-Puerto highway, resulting in injuries to at least 12 passengers. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the damaged vehicle, which had been running the Cancún-Playa del Carmen route, on the side of the road. Approximately ten passengers were found injured at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, private relief teams arrived to assist. The injured passengers were transported to a private clinic in Playa del Carmen for medical treatment, as they reported experiencing pain throughout their bodies.
After administering first aid, personnel from the National Guard arrived at the scene to document the incident. The damaged vehicle was then ordered to be moved to the impound lot.
Authorities have reported that the accident was caused by the van being driven at excessive speeds, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, resulting in the aforementioned accident.
