“Whale Shark Sightings Soaring: A Boat Trip Spectacle!”

In popular sighting areas, there have been reports of more than 40 whale shark sightings, as weather conditions have become favorable for navigation. Every day, between 24 and 30 boats set sail to observe these magnificent creatures.

The Whale Shark Permit Holder Association has confirmed that the whale shark watching activities have been proceeding smoothly since last weekend, with the port now generally open. However, the season had a rocky start due to southerly winds, which led to a six-day suspension of nautical activities and the cancellation of tourist reservations.

"Over 40 specimens were spotted in the sighting areas just yesterday. There are plenty of sharks, but the demand is currently low. Out of approximately 120 boats with permission, only 25 to 30 are sailing daily," a representative from the association stated.

This situation is typical at the beginning of the season and usually starts to pick up from the second half of June. It is anticipated that the presence of whale sharks in the area will increase for the rest of the season, particularly in July and August, when demand typically reaches between 80 and 90%, unless there are significant changes in weather conditions.

In addition to whale sharks, during the busiest weeks of the season, it is common to see mantas, turtles, dolphins, rays, sailfish, and other marine species. These additional sightings add value to the tour for customers.
