Atenea Gómez, the anticipated winner of the Isla Mujeres municipal presidency, celebrated her significant victory with families from the mainland area. The coalition 'Let's Keep Making History' candidate was greeted by hundreds of families from Ciudad Mujeres at Ejidatarios Square, where they reaffirmed their support for Gómez.
Gómez expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming trust and affection she received from the community. She emphasized her commitment to continue transforming Isla Mujeres through quality initiatives and expanded social programs.
"This victory is for all the islanders who have put their faith in our project to continue enhancing our beautiful municipality," Gómez stated. "Together, we will make Isla Mujeres an even better place to live, work, and visit."
Gómez stressed that the transformation would continue, with her proposals centered on social justice, peace-building, and a humanistic approach to governance. "People trust our results-driven work, and the proof is in our sweeping victory at the polls, where we won at all polling stations and saw record-breaking citizen participation."
Gómez also stated her intention to collaborate closely with Quintana Roo's governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, and Mexico's next president, Claudia Sheinbaum. "We will work together to build the second phase of the transformation and bring well-being to all islander families," she said.
Gómez, representing the Morena, PVEM, and PT parties, won a staggering 80,390.07 percent of the vote across Quintana Roo, totaling 12,016 votes out of the 14,947 cast in the municipality.
