Joaquín Huacho Díaz Mena, after two unsuccessful attempts and a campaign marked by personal health issues, has finally emerged as the virtual governor of Yucatan. His victory in the June 2 elections was not just a personal triumph, but a historic event. He received the highest number of votes in the electoral history of Yucatan, a staggering 628,845 votes.

Díaz expressed his joy at the result, saying, "It feels very special to dedicate a whole life to serving others and today achieving this electoral result." He likened himself to Rocky Balboa, saying, "I may have a destroyed eye, but I have a happy heart."

Díaz has a clear vision for his next steps. His first priority is to recover from his health issues. Once medically cleared, he plans to embark on a tour of gratitude, visiting municipalities, neighborhoods, and commissaries to give thanks. He attributes his victory to the "euphoria" of the campaign and the positive impact of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's work in Yucatan.

He plans to work humbly and listen to all Yucatecos to form effective public policies. He appreciates the outgoing governor, Mauricio Vila, for his support during the transition process and also acknowledges his competitors, Vida Gómez and Renán Barrera, for their public recognition of his victory.

Díaz promises to maintain Yucatan as the safest state in Mexico. He plans to retain Commander Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, the Secretary of Public Security, to ensure the continued safety of the state's residents. Other positions will be reviewed and decided upon in due course.

Díaz's victory extends beyond the governorship. His party also won a majority in Congress and several of the most important municipalities in the state. He sees this as a significant responsibility and an endorsement from the Yucatecos. He promises to review laws that negatively impact the people of Yucatan, starting with the appointment of magistrates from the PAN party to the Superior Court of Justice, which he believes is unethical.
