“The Evolution of Tourism in Cozumel Unveiled by Students – Inspiring Collaboration for Island’s Prosperity!”

The director of Tourism and Economic Development, Badhi Sleme Flores, recently opened the keynote conference "The Evolution of Tourism on the Island of Cozumel". This event was organized by tourism students from the National College of Professional Technical Education (Conalep).

Held at the college's auditorium on the island, Flores praised the students' interest in collaborating with the educational, private, and governmental sectors. He recognized their effort to boost tourism on the island for the benefit of the entire community.

Flores stated, "Our beautiful island has not only been a benchmark in the constitutional scope of the State, but it has also played a crucial role in determining its productive profile. Today, when we talk about Quintana Roo, we talk about leadership in tourism, about a world-class multi-destination. Our vision is that progress cannot be understood without the human element. The inhabitants have allowed development, thanks to teamwork."

Technical training project manager, Carolina Morales González, welcomed the attendees on behalf of the Conalep school director, Diana Beatriz Sosa Blanco. The audience included invited authorities, panelists, students from the same school, visiting students from CBTIS No. 28, and parents. The event was organized entirely by the Tourism 406 students, who aimed to promote tourism among the student community.

The conference featured tour guide Jesús David Pérez Alfaro and panelists David Domínguez Povedano, an education professor; Efraín Flores Peraza, a Cozumel businessman; Veudy Vivas Valdés, a lifetime chronicler; and Fernando Ferráez, the conductor of the Cozumel Carnival.

Notably, María del Carmen Joaquín Hernández, chairwoman of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), and Octavio Rivero Gual, president of the Cozumel Foundation, were also present at the event.
