CHETUMAL – After announcing the integration of the nautical tourism sector into the strategy “10 Measures to Avoid the Red Semaforo” with the program “Safe Access and Open Spaces”, Quintana Roo Governor, Carlos Joaquin, announced that starting tomorrow all shopping centers, hotels and restaurants must require the vaccination card or a negative PCR or antigen test from all persons entering the establishments.

The objective, he said, is to avoid contagions in these establishments while still supporting the economic recovery, promoting safe access and open spaces, in hotels, restaurants and boats.

He emphasized that all establishments must comply with criteria such as:

– Respecting the established capacities.

– Requesting proof of vaccination or a negative PCR or antigen test (taken within 72 hours) before granting access to guests.

– Check that all personnel are vaccinated or are regularly tested for COVID-19.

– Do not allow access to clients after 10:30 pm.

– To favor open spaces and install air purifying filters in spaces that cannot be naturally ventilated, and to use Carbon Dioxide meters to verify air quality.

He also announced that in order to avoid parties that do not comply with sanitary measures, inspections and operations will be carried out in marinas, ferries, boats and commercial establishments.

Those who are found to be in noncompliance will be subject to penalties such as fines, closures or revocation of permits or patents.

This is largely due to the fact that compliance with sanitary measures has been relaxed and that some people no longer take the necessary precautions to break the chain of contagion.

He explained that the vaccine against COVID-19 does not guarantee immunity, but rather reduces the probability of showing severe symptoms in case of infection. If you are vaccinated, you can still become infected and you can also infect others.
