Despite recent election results, investment in the state remains steady, says Angélica Frías, president of the Mexican Employers' Confederation (Coparmex) in Quintana Roo. In the coming days, the organization plans to meet with newly elected officials to discuss matters of interest to the business sector.
Frías emphasized the importance of maintaining independence for various autonomous institutes, including the judiciary. Coparmex will closely monitor government decisions and participate in consultation forums to ensure this independence is upheld.
Locally, entrepreneurs are focused on enhancing their competitiveness, particularly in light of economic instability impacting stock and exchange markets. This instability poses a risk to small and medium-sized businesses, Frías noted.
For upcoming discussions with state and municipal authorities, Coparmex Quintana Roo has identified key issues such as security, health, and regulatory improvement. These topics have already been addressed in collaboration with municipal presidencies and will be included in the Work Plan presented to the new authorities. This plan is based on agendas discussed with candidates during the election campaign.
Frías revealed that initial discussions have already taken place with some members of the cabinet of the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Patricia Peralta. The aim is to implement concrete actions from the start of the new administration.
Previous analysis by Data Coparmex showed a growing interest in investing in the region. Frías stated that there are currently expectations regarding actions to be implemented in September and in the initial months of the new administrations.
"We have not seen a halt in investments so far, but much depends on how events unfold," she said. "Investors and entrepreneurs are primarily concerned with the legality and transparency of all processes, and the security of their investments. There is still interest in investing, but we are keeping a close eye on developments at the federal level, as we have seen an openness to dialogue at the state level."
