The State Attorney General's Office, under the leadership of Raciel López Salazar, has made significant strides in the prosecution of kidnapping cases. They have successfully apprehended, prosecuted, and convicted alleged criminals, presenting compelling evidence that has led to severe sentences of up to 70 years in prison.
One such case was ruled on December 12, 2023, where Abraham "N" and Arely "N" were sentenced for their involvement in the express kidnapping of three individuals, including two adults and a minor. The incident took place in the municipality of Benito Juárez on June 23, 2018. The convicted individuals held the victims captive for 24 hours, forcing them to withdraw 130,000 pesos from ATMs and demanding a ransom of one million pesos from their families.
In another case, Octavio "N", Ricardo "N", Carlos Iván "N", and Kevin Hazael "N", members of a criminal group, were sentenced to 70 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping. The crime occurred on September 7, 2019, when the four men, impersonating employees of the Attorney General's Office, forcibly entered the victim's home. Armed with weapons reserved for the Army, Navy, and Air Force, they abducted the victim and demanded a ransom of 2 million pesos from his family.
