This Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Cancún will host another edition of its ongoing "Recyclathon" program. The city's General Directorate of Ecology is inviting residents to participate in this event, aimed at making Cancún a more sustainable city through community involvement.

There will be seven collection centers set up across the city. These will be located at the esplanade of the Quintana Roo Department of Education (SEQ), Pabellón Cumbres, Conalep II, Walmart Polígono Sur, the parking lots of La Gran Plaza, Chedraui Lak'in, and the Urban Center Cancún Shopping Center.

The collection centers will be accepting a variety of recyclable materials. These include PET 1 and HDPE 2 plastics, paper and cardboard, glass containers, toner and inks, tetra pak, aluminum, electronics, scrap, plastic bags, bottle caps, alkaline batteries (maximum 1 kilogram per person), textiles (clothes and linens), energy-saving bulbs (maximum 8 pieces per person), cooking vegetable oil, motor oil, expired medicines, polystyrene (packaging only), cigarette butts, vapes, and eco-bricks.

Please note that clothing stained with chemicals, or that is wet or moldy, will not be accepted. The authorities have also emphasized that all waste should be clean, compacted, and sorted prior to drop-off.
