Tourist Shot in Front of Hotel in Cancun

An unidentified man, apparently vacationing in Cancun, was shot outside a hotel located in super-manzana 8, right next to a well-known shopping mall.

CANCÚN – The attack happened around 4:30 pm at the City Express Junior Hotel. The 911 emergency operators received a call for help reporting detonations of a firearm at the hotel, leaving one person injured. Several police units were immediately dispatched to the scene.

According to preliminary reports, the attacker pulled up to the front of the hotel in his vehicle and dispatched several rounds from his firearm, injuring the victim. The assailant then fled the scene, managing to evade police officers despite the fact that several units were mobilized.

Paramedics from the private company Cancun Medical Response arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the victim and take him to the facilities of the “Jesús Kumate Rodríguez” General Hospital to receive medical attention.

Ministerial agents arrived at the scene to investigate but the victim had already been removed from the scene.
