“Exciting News: International Music Festival Dates Announced!”

The University of the Caribbean (Unicaribe), the Institute of Culture and Arts of Cancun, and the Organizing Committee of the International Music Festival (FIM) Cancun have announced the dates for the festival's 11th edition. The event will take place from October 3 to 12 at various locations in Cancun, Isla Mujeres, and Playa del Carmen.

This year's theme is "the sound of the Andes", and will feature musicians from over 10 countries, particularly those located in the Andean mountain range. The festival will showcase a variety of genres and musical styles, extending beyond the traditional folk music of the region.

Over the course of the 10-day festival, more than 30 activities will be held at different locations. Some will be in a hybrid or online format, including live streaming of some concerts. The aim is to reach over 30,000 people, both in-person attendees and those tuning in remotely.

Victoria Garcia, the Festival's general director, expressed gratitude to Unicaribe and the Institute of Culture and the Arts for their support in organizing the event. She highlighted that the FIM was the only festival in Quintana Roo to receive funding from the ProFest program, a federal initiative from the Secretary of Culture. This funding will cover the fees for the invited musicians, with a stimulus of up to 1.5 million pesos.

Garcia also encouraged other companies committed to social responsibility and culture to participate as co-sponsors of the event. Several organizations, including Anahuac University and several hotels, have already partnered with the FIM.

Erick Angel Zarate, the FIM's artistic director, announced the call for their traditional International Trumpet Contest. The contest was announced on July 3rd on the FIM website, and registration will close on September 30. Zarate noted that over the festival's 10-year history, it has hosted more than 1,500 artists and over 180 concerts, with 45 activities held at more than 55 academic institutions across the city. The team is optimistic about the success of the festival's 11th edition and its continuation in the future.
