In a tragic incident, a man who went missing after falling off a kayak in the Cobá lagoon was found dead after a rigorous search operation lasting over 12 hours. The victim was kayaking with another person who was fortunately rescued.
The search operation involved personnel from Tulum's Civil Protection and Citizen Security, the State Search Commission, and the International Rescue Brigade of Cancun. The man's body was discovered by divers around 10 am, submerged deep in the lagoon.
At this stage, it is unclear whether the man suffered any injuries such as crocodile bites. However, initial assumptions suggest that the cause of death was likely drowning. The State Attorney General's Office will be conducting further investigations into the incident.
