In the first half of 2024, the Mexican Caribbean's tourist hotspots were showcased at 24 national and international fairs and events. This initiative was aimed at boosting tourist footfall in Quintana Roo, a popular destination in the region.

Data from the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) indicates that the Mexican Caribbean was featured at 14 events in the first quarter and another 10 in the second quarter. Of these 24 events, seven were held in major cities across the United States, which is a key market for tourism in the Mexican Caribbean. These cities included Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington.

The region's top tourist destinations were also highlighted at international fairs and events in Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica in the Americas. In Europe, the Mexican Caribbean was promoted in Spain, Portugal, and Germany, and in Asia, it was showcased in India.

Within Mexico, the promotion took place in cities such as Patzcuaro, Puebla, Queretaro, Leon, Acapulco, Merida, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Chihuahua, and Tulum.

According to the CPTQ, the Mexican Caribbean's international airports saw a total of over seven million passengers from January to May 2024. This figure represents an increase of 112,137 travelers compared to the first five months of 2023, translating to a 1.6% growth rate.

In comparison, the airports recorded nearly seven million passengers in the first five months of 2023, approximately six million in 2022, and around 5.75 million in 2021.

The tourist destinations in the Mexican Caribbean that were promoted at these national and international events include Isla Mujeres, Costa Mujeres, Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Riviera Maya, Tulum, Cozumel, and Grand Costa Maya.
