On Wednesday morning, a foreign man caused significant disruption at a Kabah hotel, including threats and property damage. The incidents took place on July 10, at the hotel situated on Rodrigo Gómez Avenue and Yaxchilán, in the city of Cancun. It is believed that the man was under the influence of a substance, and he threatened to take his own life while brandishing a knife from the top of the building. This prompted a quick response from ambulance crews, local police, and Marine personnel, who secured the area and negotiated with the man.
During the incident, the man managed to remove the glass balcony from a hotel room, which fell in front of the "China Girl" restaurant. Thankfully, no further victims or damages were reported. Eventually, the authorities were able to arrest the man without any major incidents. A woman, believed to be his partner, was also in the room and was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
The man was later brought to the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) to give a statement about the incidents and face charges for the damage he caused to the hotel.
