Chen Zubul, a 40-hectare area located in the Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta neighborhood of Playa del Carmen, is on track to become a protected park. Local authorities and residents have been advocating since 2023 for the area to be designated as zero density.

Situated along the coast of Playa del Carmen, Chen Zubul is poised to become a protected park. This move is particularly timely given the recent commencement of property regularization in the neighborhood.

The governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, has expressed optimism about the creation of the Chen Zubul protected park. She stated that her administration is pro-environment and is hopeful of delivering positive news on this matter soon.

The Solidaridad government has proposed that Chen Zubul be designated as a zero density area. This proposal was presented during a regular Cabildo session and has been forwarded to the President of Mexico for his endorsement.
