The Sixty-Ninth Ordinary Council Session, led by President Lili Campos, has given the green light to several agreements. One of these is a fiscal stimulus program for 2024. The program's aim is to stimulate economic activity and generate more revenue. This increased revenue will enhance services, infrastructure, and other benefits for Solidaridad residents. The program is a continuation of previous fiscal stimulus initiatives and is designed to make it easier for taxpayers to pay their fees, providing relief for the citizens of Solidaridad. Participating departments include the Revenue, Finance, Transportation, Civil Protection, Risk Prevention and Firefighters, Collection and Taxation, Environmental Management and Climate Change, Urban Development and Physiognomy, and Economic Development and Investment Attraction Departments.
The council also approved the Reform Initiative, which amends article 119 and adds articles 119-bis and 119-ter to the "Government Order for the Municipality of Solidaridad". This initiative establishes the "Municipal Educational Merit" and its guidelines, which will permanently recognize teachers at all educational levels: Preschool, Elementary, Secondary (Technical, Tele-secondary, and General), Higher Education, and Special Education.
The Council members also approved the Action Protocol in Case of Extortion from the Municipal Citizen Security Department of Solidaridad due to the serious nature of extortion. This crime, which involves threats, coercion, or violence to secure something of value, can take many forms, including physical threats and economic or emotional blackmail. The approval of an action protocol is crucial to ensure effective responses, protect victims and witnesses, strengthen law enforcement readiness, and prevent crime. This protocol will be a vital tool in combating extortion, ensuring cases are handled professionally, ethically, and efficiently.
In addition, the councilors approved the addition of Title XI, Municipal Electronic Government, Single Chapter, Digital Services, to the Government Order for the Municipality of Solidaridad. They also approved the Organization and Operation Manual of the Comprehensive Protection System for Girls, Boys, and Adolescents of the Municipality of Solidaridad, Quintana Roo (SIPINNA).
