Officials from the Benito Juarez Municipality are looking into a video that has been making rounds on social media. The video appears to show a butcher skinning a jaguar.

In the video, a voice can be heard saying, "Here's the naughty one and since it ate sheep and dogs, it's our turn to eat him, that's how we settle the score." It suggests that the jaguar was hunted in retaliation for preying on livestock and pets.

Pablo Gutiérrez, the general secretary of the Benito Juarez Municipality, has stated that the local ecology and environment departments are working to authenticate the video and establish whether the incident took place in Cancún or elsewhere.

Gutiérrez has called on the public to report any information that could help identify the individual in the video and confirm their location. Hunting and consuming jaguars is strictly prohibited in the region.
