In Cancun, QR, five people have been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a young student last week. The student was forcibly taken outside his school on July 24th as he sat in his car waiting for the school to open. The incident was caught on public security cameras as his car was driven away. The car was later discovered outside a private home where the student was held captive.
Before the student was rescued, his kidnappers filmed him and demanded a ransom of 3 million pesos from his family. Three of the suspects were arrested in Merida, while the remaining two were apprehended in Cancun.
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) announced the charges against the five individuals on Saturday. The two captured in Cancun have been identified as Edson de Jesus "N" and Adriana "N". The three detained in Merida are Jose Armando "N", Erik Fernando "N", and Hernando Jose "N".
According to the FGE, the kidnapping took place on July 24th when the student was taken by three individuals outside a school on Fonatur avenue in Cancun. City surveillance footage captured his car being driven away post-abduction.
The kidnappers then transported the student to an apartment in the Villas Otoch Paraiso neighborhood in SM 259. Here, they filmed a video demanding a ransom of 3 million pesos from his parents.
The FGE reported that the 16-year-old student was rescued on the same day of his kidnapping.
