Days before a major protest by taxi drivers in northern Quintana Roo against the UBER transport platform, the Attorney General's Office (FGE) announced the arrest of Eliazar "N". Eliazar is the leader of the Broad Front of Taxi Workers (FUTV) “Caribbean Sharks” and an elected council member of the Labor Party (PT), affiliated with Morena and the PVEM.

Eliazar "N" was arrested for his alleged involvement in a murder and the attempted murder of four unidentified individuals in the municipality of Tulum. The arrest followed the execution of a warrant issued by a Control Judge.

Eliazar "N" had recently organized a major protest, claiming that over 50,000 transporters would participate. He accused the authorities of refusing to authorize a fare increase, allowing UBER to operate without permits, and failing to issue new taxi licenses for several years.

Another individual, identified as Juan Manuel "N", was also arrested. Both men were found in possession of a .380 caliber firearm. Eliazar "N" has been handed over to the judicial authority that requested him, while Juan Manuel "N" remains in the custody of a Public Ministry agent.

The Attorney General's Office reaffirms its commitment to bringing those who break the law to justice.
