Recent protests in Quintana Roo have led to a call for government intervention from local tourism businesses and hotel owners. The demonstrations have been taking place over several months in various parts of the region, causing significant disruptions.

These protests have resulted in prolonged traffic delays along the state's main highway, the 307, and have also impacted operations at Cancún International Airport. The resulting transportation delays have caused substantial economic losses and have negatively affected the reputation of the popular tourist destination.

While the right to protest is acknowledged as a constitutional right, the complainants argue that it should be carried out in a manner that doesn't harm others, damage the environment, or impact the local economy. They also expressed uncertainty about the full extent of the financial losses incurred due to the protests.

One of the major concerns is the behavior of Cancún taxi drivers, who seem to be more focused on opposing Uber than providing service to passengers.

The affected parties are calling for immediate negotiations with the relevant authorities to find a swift resolution. They insist that the law should be enforced without delay, regardless of the upcoming federal administration change.

Eduardo Martinez Gonzalez, the president of the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council (CCE), which represents over 100,000 jobs, expressed strong disapproval of the disorderly and sometimes violent protests. He stated that these actions do not reflect the character or values of the region.

It's worth noting that employees of the Federal Judiciary have also staged several protests.
