Mennonite Community Faces Deforestation Probe

The Republic's Attorney General's Office is currently investigating several cases of deforestation in Campeche. This includes the activities of the Mennonite communities residing in the area.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has been proactive in combating illegal logging and deforestation in Campeche. They have highlighted the severe impact on the local ecosystem due to the destruction of forest areas.

The expansion of crops by the Mennonite community has been identified as a contributing factor to this environmental damage. The regional delegate of the FGR has confirmed that there are ongoing investigations related to this matter.
