Fatal Van Crash Near Tulum Airport Claims One Life

On Wednesday, September 18, a van accident occurred on the road leading to the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport in Tulum, located at kilometer 8. The accident resulted in one fatality and four injuries.

The Chevrolet Cheyenne van, bearing the license plate PFY0533, was reportedly en route to the airport when the accident happened. Emergency services were alerted to the incident via a 911 call. The four injured passengers were transported to various medical facilities for treatment.

Several ambulances responded to the scene, including the Advanced Emergency Unit of the Railway Airport Group of Auxiliary Services. Additional units from the Olmeca Maya and Salud y Vida companies, both based in Tulum, also assisted.

Tragically, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensic experts from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) were dispatched to transport the body to the morgue for a legal autopsy. The Red Cross was also present to aid in caring for the injured.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the details of the incident.
