Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced plans to build an exclusive beach club in Cozumel, Mexico. The project, which is set to cost $75 million, will have the capacity to accommodate up to four thousand visitors per day once operational.
The Royal Beach Club Cozumel is set to open in 2026. The announcement was made by Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, and Michael Bayley, CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
"We are excited to further our longstanding partnership with the local community and government to continue bringing our guests to Mexico," said Liberty during the press conference. The beach club will be built on a thousand-meter stretch of land along the western coast of the island.
Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the Ministry of Tourism in Quintana Roo (SEDETUR), praised the project, stating that it reaffirms Cozumel's status as the world's leading cruise destination.
Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL), was present in Cozumel to announce the expansion of the company's tourism offerings in Cozumel with the opening of the Royal Beach Club Cozumel.
“Expanding our range of destinations aligns with the growing global demand for top-tier vacation experiences. It allows our guests to engage with the beauty of local cultures and people in the places they visit," Bayley said.
Bayley also highlighted the growing anticipation for this project, following the announcement of the Royal Beach Club Paradise in the Bahamas, set to open in 2025.
"Now is the perfect time to announce the next destination of this collection with Royal Beach Club Cozumel," said Bayley. "Cozumel is an incredible destination and the beach club will perfectly complement everything the island has to offer. It's an experience that combines familiar Royal Caribbean touches with the energy of Mexico, along with amenities and activities for every type of vacationer."
The project presentation took place at the private beach club "Playa Mia", located on the southern coastal road. This area, renowned for its beautiful beaches, welcomed over 4 million cruise tourists last year and serves 20% of the global cruise industry.
The Royal Beach Club will feature stunning beaches, views, and pools to cater to all tastes. It will provide the ultimate beach day in Mexico, complete with attention to detail in the experience, service, and design that characterizes Royal Caribbean. Amenities will include private cabins, snorkeling, kayaking, and more.
Guests of RCCL will also be able to enjoy the flavors of Mexico with a wide variety of dining options.
