The latest Aguakan facility, based in Cancun, is notable for its dedication to environmental conservation. The company's thirteenth Wastewater Treatment Plant utilises solar power and biogas for its operations, thereby promoting environmental sustainability. Furthermore, in the municipality of Solidaridad, within the town of Puerto Aventuras, an additional facility has the capability to desalinate brackish water for household use.
The Norponiente II plant's water treatment process is remarkable for its adherence to the NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2021 Standard. This ensures the quality of the treated water and its reintroduction into the groundwater for future use. The plant employs automated technology, solar power, and bacteria to purify the water, meeting the standards set by the National Water Commission and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
Boasting a purification capacity of up to 200 liters of water per second, this plant operates within the set guidelines. This ensures the removal of pollutants and the reintroduction of clean water into the aquifers. The automation of the process and the energy generation from sludge enhance the plant's efficiency and contribute to environmental preservation.
