The Pacific's tenth cyclone of the season, "Jhon," has left the state of Guerrero in a vulnerable condition once more, impacting 15,000 families in Acapulco. The recent rainfall equates to 80 percent of the annual precipitation typically expected. In response, the Mexican Red Cross has appealed to its Cancún branch to aid the Acapulco victims through direct donations to the charity's account.

José Juan Rivera, the state communication coordinator of the Mexican Red Cross in Quintana Roo, stated that they currently lack a collection center for those affected by the cyclone. He urged people to assist by donating to the Mexican Red Cross's bank account, which is straightforward to do. The account, registered with Bancomer, is number 0404040406.

Rivera suggested that direct monetary donations would expedite the aid process, as they can be more effective than physical goods in this situation.

According to Acapulco port authorities, the city's hotel infrastructure has suffered significant damage, comparable to the destruction wrought by Hurricane Otis in October 2023, which impacted nearly 20,000 hotel rooms.

Currently, 5,120 people have been evacuated and rescued, with another 3,814 receiving aid in 58 temporary shelters set up in the Costa Grande and Costa Chica regions. Official figures report that 2,022 food parcels and 17,136 liters of water have been distributed, and 5,650 hot meals have been served through two community kitchens.

The Mexican Government has deployed a task force of over 18,000 response units in Guerrero to handle the situation.
