Residents of the Chuburná Inn and Rinconada Chuburná districts in Mérida have blocked several streets and detained two buses in protest against the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). They have been without electricity for three days, prompting the protest which began on Saturday at noon after a lightning strike caused a city-wide power outage.
Micaela Ku Pacheco, a local protester, revealed that despite contacting the CFE and being issued a service ticket number, the issue remains unresolved. This inaction has led to growing frustration among the residents, who decided to block the streets and detain buses as a form of protest.
As of Monday morning, the roadblocks were still in place. Despite the presence of police in the area, a resolution has yet to be reached. The residents continue to demand an immediate solution to the ongoing power outage in their districts.
