Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has announced that the Tulum Urban Development Program (PDU) was approved on September 19th. This initiative aims to ensure the municipality's growth is managed in a structured and orderly manner. The program, which is backed by the Ministry of Urban Development (Sedatu), is also designed to address issues related to public services.

President Sheinbaum explained that the recent approval of the Tulum Territorial Planning Program is a step towards preventing uncontrolled expansion. She also mentioned that the situation in Playa del Carmen is not only about resolving service issues but also about regularization and order, to prevent chaotic growth.

The president also touched on projects related to the Mayan Train, which could boost tourism throughout southern Mexico, provided there is orderly territorial growth. She assured that the implementation of this program will be monitored and supported by Edna Elena Vega Rangel, the head of Sedatu.

These announcements come amidst a wave of criticism from various social sectors in Tulum. During the conference, the president also discussed the regularization and order of Playa del Carmen.
