Neldy Crew Contacted and Safe, Heading to Progreso Slowly

A small boat facing turbulent waves in the ocean under an overcast sky.

Family members of the Neldy's crew have confirmed contact with the fishermen, bringing relief to hours of uncertainty and conflicting reports. The crew is currently safe and making their way towards the port of Progreso, albeit at a slow pace, as reported in a video broadcast from the Gardenia base, where the families had gathered.

Daniela Ruiz, spouse of one of the crew members, highlighted that misinformation about the ship's location had been circulated. However, it was confirmed about an hour ago that the crew members are safe and en route to the port. While the families expressed relief, they also urged caution in spreading unverified information, which has caused significant emotional distress. "It's crucial not to spread false information. The anxiety we've experienced is something I wouldn't wish on anyone," shared one relative.

The exact arrival time of the Neldy at the Progreso port is yet to be confirmed. The boat's current coordinates place it near Río Lagartos, gradually moving towards its destination. The families also stressed that four other boats are still searching for missing fishermen following the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
