The 50th anniversary of Quintana Roo was marked by a modest civic ceremony at the Explanada de la Bandera in Chetumal. The event was somewhat overshadowed as Governor Mara Lezama had to cancel some activities in the state capital due to her coordination of official aid in the northern part of the state, which was threatened by Hurricane Milton.

At the ceremony in Chetumal, attendance was low with only a handful of public officials present. Cristina Torres Gómez, the Secretary of the Government, led the State Flag Raising ceremony at the civic square of the Government Palace.

During her speech, Gómez highlighted the efforts and perseverance of the men and women of Quintana Roo over the past 50 years. She gave special mention to the Pro-Territory Committee, who fought for Quintana Roo's transition from a forgotten region of Yucatán to the independent state it is today.

Representatives from various institutions, including the State Congress Legislature and the Superior Court of Justice, attended the commemoration. Despite the modest turnout, the event honored the history and progress of Quintana Roo over the past half-century.
