Juanita Alonso Marrufo Takes Helm at Cozumel Parks and Museums – New Director General appointed to lead FPMC

Juanita Alonso Marrufo has been officially introduced as the new Director General of the Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC). Her appointment by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa was announced in front of the institution's staff.

The formal presentation was made by Sergio Padilla Castillejos, representing the Secretary of Tourism and President of the Advisory Council of the FPMC, Bernardo Cueto Riestra. Also in attendance was the municipal president of Cozumel, José Luis Chacón Méndez, who expressed his support for Marrufo's new role.

Marrufo's appointment is part of Governor Lezama's ongoing commitment to ensure that social policies aimed at the tourism sector benefit local communities. The goal is to generate income that directly impacts the local community.

In her acceptance speech, Marrufo thanked Governor Lezama for the trust placed in her. She pledged to promote conservation, education, and cultural projects that align with the FPMC's mission. The FPMC plays a crucial role in the tourist and ecological development of the island.

Marrufo brings extensive public service experience to her new role, including previous work within the FPMC as its administrator. With support from the State Department of Tourism, she will make decisions that positively impact the community. These decisions will align with the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo.

The event also included a thank you to Alejandro Marchán Payán for his tenure as the head of the Foundation. With Marrufo's appointment, a new chapter begins for the state agency, which is committed to strengthening its ties to the community and preserving Cozumel's natural and cultural heritage.
