In Chetumal, Quintana Roo, the XVIII State Legislature has unanimously approved a proposal to establish a Women's Secretariat. The proposal, put forward by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, indicates that the new secretariat will be responsible for implementing measures to empower women.

The Legislature approved a resolution to transform the existing Quintana Roo Women's Institute into the Women's Secretariat. The aim of this transformation is to ensure gender equality, comprehensive protection for women, and the elimination of any discrimination that might prevent women from accessing equal opportunities and exercising their rights.

The establishment of this new state secretariat is intended to address the historical debt that the Mexican State owes to girls, adolescents, and women. It will do this by promoting public policies that guarantee their human rights.

Congresswoman Euterpe Gutiérrez Valasis expressed her support for the creation of the Women's Secretariat, stating that it is crucial to continue building a future of equality. She emphasized the importance of promoting gender equality and empowering women in all areas.

During the same session, five women were appointed as magistrates of the Administrative and Anti-Corruption Justice Tribunal of Quintana Roo. They are expected to fulfill their duties responsibly and humanely, thereby strengthening the State Anti-Corruption System.

The move to create the Women's Secretariat underscores the commitment of the authorities to promoting gender equality and protecting women's rights in Quintana Roo.
