Mayor Urges Female Entrepreneurs to Enhance Solidaridad’s Urban Image

A large group of women dressed in different shades of pink gathered together for an event, some seated and some standing, in an indoor setting with a curtain backdrop.

Estefanía Mercado, the mayor of Solidaridad, has announced plans to register the color "Arena Playa" for use throughout the city. This includes government buildings, parks, and Fifth Avenue. The aim is to create a unified urban aesthetic free from political bias.

Mercado has urged entrepreneurs to help enhance the urban image of Fifth Avenue, suggesting they might take inspiration from successful urban models in other cities. She made these remarks during a meeting with the Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs (Amexme), Riviera Maya chapter, led by Liliana Bravo Mena.

She believes there is still time to standardize the color scheme in Playa del Carmen, stating, "This issue of party colors does not look good". She emphasized that this commitment should not only be assumed by the mayor, but by everyone.

Mercado has also called on female entrepreneurs to assist the Secretary of Tourism in monitoring each action to be undertaken, stating, "because what is not measured does not work”. She further encouraged entrepreneurs to engage in politics, regardless of their party affiliation, as their input is needed to ensure decisions and public policies align with the thoughts of all citizens, for the benefit of the community.

She cited the example of female entrepreneurs from Playa del Carmen who have entered politics to work for the prosperity and well-being of Quintana Roo and Solidaridad. Mercado concluded her remarks by encouraging more women to participate in politics, saying, "dare to participate, your voices are more than welcome in this government, where we are going to dare to do big things that truly leave a mark on Solidaridad."
