During a recent visit to Yucatan, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the initiation of the Mayan Renaissance project. This ambitious plan aims to transform the municipality of Progreso into a significant logistical hub for goods transportation. The project marks a significant transformation for the Yucatan peninsula.

The work in Puerto Progreso is estimated to take three years due to the challenging soil conditions in the area. President Sheinbaum also discussed the development of a new deep-water port in Puerto Progreso. This project is expected to take three years to complete due to the hardness of the soil.

Secretary of the Navy, Raymundo Pedro Morales Angeles, announced that environmental impact studies have begun. He also informed the people of Yucatan that they can expect to see specialized machinery arriving soon to begin dredging the beach. The goal of this project is to transform Puerto Progreso into one of Mexico's most significant commercial ports.

Gustavo Ricardo Vallejo Suarez, commander of the Engineer Group "Felipe Angeles" of the Sedena, confirmed his unit's commitment to support the Mayan Train project. This project aims to consolidate the Mayan Train as a cargo train.

In addition to these projects, plans for Yucatan also include the construction of 20,000 homes and improvements to the road system throughout the Merida metropolitan area.

To complement these initiatives, federal and state authorities have signed an agreement with IMSS-Wellness. This agreement includes the construction of the new Agustin O’Horan Hospital, which is scheduled to open in mid-2025.
