Plans for a new hotel in Solidaridad, known as the 'Venado Project', are being revived despite initial rejection due to environmental concerns. The proposed hotel and residential development, which includes 191 rooms, was deemed environmentally unviable less than four months ago. However, the development company remains determined to push forward with the project.
The Venado Project was initially proposed as the "Residencial Punta Venado". The initial plan included 108 hotel rooms, 50 special suites, and 33 residences with up to five bedrooms. The project also planned for a family club, beach activity area, sports courts, specialty restaurants, gym, spa, swimming pools, zip lines, bars, five artificial lakes, parking lots, and 65 trails and bridges.
To provide water for the guests, the plan included drilling three 20-metre deep potable water wells. These wells, located 150 to 400 meters away from the facilities, were expected to supply 458.4 cubic meters of water per day.
Despite the initial rejection, the development company reapplied for the environmental permit under the new name of "Venado Project" on September 26. The land area for the project is now stated as 111.55 hectares, located in the Punta Venado-Paamul tourist corridor in the coastal area of Riviera Maya. The construction is planned to take place on 16.86 hectares, equivalent to 15.12 percent of the total lot area. The facilities are promised to have "fine designs and finishes", and features that combine luxury and comfort.
The proposed location for the project has a 940-meter beach front to the east and is situated on plot 001, block 002, Fraction 2 of Fraction 1 of the Punta Venado property. It is also on plot 001-2, block 009, of the INA-Xcaret property, adjacent to the west with the road to Tulum, and to the north and south with the Punta Venado property.
