The Sun Princess, a cruise ship from the Princess Cruise line, made its maiden voyage to the island of Cozumel on Monday morning. The ship arrived at the Puerta Maya terminal, where it was enthusiastically greeted by local authorities.
Vagner Elbiorn Vega, General Manager of the Quintana Roo Port Administration (Apiqroo), was on hand to welcome the ship. In a brief statement, Apiqroo said, "We are pleased to welcome the M/S Sun Princess to Cozumel. This impressive cruise ship is making its first visit to our island."
The Sun Princess is one of the largest ships of its kind, with a maximum passenger capacity of 4,300. It is also notable for its commitment to environmental responsibility, as it is the first Princess cruise ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). This fuel system significantly reduces the ship's emissions, setting a new standard for sustainable tourism.
Vagner Elbiorn Vega expressed his delight at the arrival of the Sun Princess, emphasizing the importance of such visits for the prosperity of Quintana Roo's families. Cozumel continues to be a prominent destination in the Caribbean, attracting responsible tourism that benefits the entire region. The Sun Princess is warmly welcomed to Cozumel!
