Starting this month, Tulum Airport is set to see an increase in passenger traffic as it begins new flights. The airport expects to introduce at least six new national and international flights.

Tayde Mandujano Manzano, the commercial and services manager of Tulum Airport, stated that the new flights will commence on November 9. The first of these flights will be operated by Westjet, departing from Toronto and Calgary. This new addition is aimed at attracting more visitors from Canada, marking the start of the winter season. The airport is optimistic about the passenger numbers for this season.

This international flight will join existing routes operated by Delta, United, American, JetBlue, AirCanada, and Copa Airlines. These airlines primarily connect Tulum with the United States, Canada, and Panama.

December is expected to see an even larger number of flights, coinciding with the peak tourist season. On December 2, Sunwing will commence flights from Montreal. Ten days later, Discover Airlines will launch a flight from Frankfurt, a highly anticipated route that connects with Europe.

On December 19, Air Transat will begin operations from Montreal and Quebec. Lastly, Avianca will introduce a route from Bogota, starting December 10.

Regarding domestic routes, Volaris will add a new flight from Guadalajara, starting December 5. This addition will expand the current domestic offerings, with AeroMexico, VivaAerobus, and Mexicana already operating flights.

Manzano explained, "This will enable us to serve 1.4 million passengers. So far, we have already seen over 900,000 passengers, surpassing our first-year operation estimate of 700,000."

In addition to the increase in flights, Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport, the fourth largest in the state, is also experiencing significant growth. The airport is considering opening a hotel to further enhance the travel experience for passengers.
