In the heart of Playa Del Carmen, thousands of residents and tourists from various nationalities recently immersed themselves in the vibrant Janal Pixan festivities. The event, known as "Pixanoob Saacil óol", was held in Plaza 28 de Julio, Quinta Avenida, and Puerto Aventuras. For the third consecutive day, an artistic-cultural program was presented in honor of the departed.
The Municipal President, Estefanía Mercado, led the Parade of the Pixanes. The procession began at Constituyentes Avenue with Quinta Avenida and ended at Plaza 28 de Julio. Here, families and tourists alike indulged in local delicacies, visited traditional altars, and gained a deeper understanding of the culture and idiosyncrasies of Mexico, Quintana Roo, and Solidaridad.
Mercado also attended an event in Puerto Aventuras, where Mayor Gilberto Gómez and his team organized a popular fair. The fair included costume and altar contests, with prizes up to 18,000 pesos. Eduardo Asencio, the honorary president of the DIF Solidaridad System, praised the Puerto Aventuras government for their efforts to promote and share Day of the Dead traditions with the world.
Mayor Gilberto Gómez expressed his gratitude for the local participation in these festivities, which he said enhances and elevates the reputation of Puerto Aventuras. The event was attended by councilwomen, councilmen, municipal public servants, and special guests who accompanied Estefanía Mercado.
Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the concert featuring Mexican singer-songwriter Eugenia León and the Children's and Youth Symphony Orchestra of Playa del Carmen had to be rescheduled. However, authorities announced that the Orchestra will perform this Sunday at the City Theater, at 8 p.m.
