The Quintana Roo State Attorney General's Office (FGE) has announced the successful capture of a 15-member Colombian drug and loan shark ring operating in Cancún. The group was independently selling drugs and providing cash loans through a system known as "gota a gota".
The FGE, in collaboration with the 100-day Interinstitutional Task Force, spearheaded by the Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, executed three search warrants on different properties. The operations resulted in the seizure of narcotics and motorcycles.
In addition to the 15 Colombians, two more individuals were arrested near these locations. The group of 17, comprising 14 men and three women, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in crimes related to retail drug dealing.
The operation involved cooperation from multiple government levels, including the Secretariats of the Navy, National Defense, National Guard, National Anti-kidnapping Coordination, FGE Investigation Police, and Citizen Security Secretariat.
The first raid took place on a property on Retiro Cerrada Los Frailes street, in the Gran Santa Fe III subdivision of Supermanzana 323. Various drugs and 16 motorcycles were confiscated. Fifteen people, including Colombians Richard David, Jovany, Jhon Alejandro, Jorge Alexis, José Julián, Deiner Fabián, Efrén Camilo, Carlos Andren, Oscar David, Juan Carlos, Luis Alfonso, Lino Ramón, as well as three women: Isabel Cristina, Mónica Yanet, and Isabella, were arrested. Various doses of drugs were seized from them.
Investigations revealed that the group was not only selling drugs independently but also offering cash loans using the "gota a gota" system. This method involves lending money and collecting repayments daily, often accompanied by threats.
A second operation was conducted on a residence on Venados Street with Los Mayas Avenue, in Supermanzana 517. Drugs were seized and Rolando Yair was arrested nearby, found in possession of marijuana and crystal meth during a routine inspection.
The final raid took place on a property on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue corner with Calle 113, in Supermanzana 95. Numerous doses of drugs were found and Kevin Alejandro was arrested nearby, caught in possession of marijuana and crystal meth.
