Residents of the community known as Punta Allen, officially Javier Rojo Gómez, are urgently calling for government intervention. The deterioration of their roads and persistent flooding are significantly impacting their quality of life.
Punta Allen is located 55 kilometers from the municipality of Tulum. The community is experiencing a critical situation that continues to worsen due to the lack of action from authorities.
Sonia Chulin, a Punta Allen resident, highlights that the community has already lodged formal complaints demanding immediate action. She describes the 45-kilometer road that connects Tulum's arch with Punta Allen as being in a deplorable state. This, along with the flooded streets within the community, is making daily life increasingly difficult for residents.
The community, home to over 500 families or around 700 individuals, is grappling with a challenging environment. Poor access conditions and frequent flooding are disrupting their daily activities.
Adding to these issues, the community is also dealing with a lack of medical services and a shortage of medications. This problem is putting residents at further risk of health complications.
The residents of Punta Allen are hopeful that their urgent call for help will finally be heard and acted upon by the authorities. They are seeking improvements to their quality of life and access to essential services.
