The Isla Mujeres Municipal Government, in collaboration with the Youth Directorate, is hosting a Folklore Workshop for young individuals residing in the Continental Zone. The workshop aims to promote health and physical activity among the youth.
The workshop, which has already begun at the Ejidatarios Plaza in the Continental Zone, has attracted 15 participants so far, ranging in age from 12 to 29 years. Although the majority of participants are women, the workshop is open to all interested individuals.
Registration is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Casa del Adulto Mayor. The workshop itself takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn traditional dances from the states of Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Nayarit. This will not only improve their health and physical condition but also prepare them for their first performance this Sunday in the municipality's Continental Zone.
The workshop is organized in partnership with the Colectivo Conciencia, a group dedicated to planning youth-oriented activities and promoting inclusion and sexual diversity. One of the primary goals of the workshop is to teach young people traditional dance, which they can later showcase in various public performances.
The workshop is led by folk dance instructor Miguel Ángel Dzib Miss. Interested individuals should bring a copy of their INE (National Electoral Institute) card for registration. For those under the age of 18, a copy of their CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) and proof of address are required.
