The Solidaridad government is launching free medical brigades to bolster healthcare services for families residing in the neighborhoods of Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras. The Mayor of Solidaridad, Estefanía Mercado, announced that these brigades will operate up to three times a week.

This initiative aligns with Governor Mara Lezama's efforts to expand medical services through Health Caravans across all municipalities in the state. The goal is to bridge healthcare disparities and bring social welfare to families lacking access to medical services.

The medical brigades, starting this week, will offer a variety of services including medical consultations, weight and height checks, nutrition education, dental and psychological services. Special attention will be given to women's health issues.

Mayor Estefanía Mercado emphasized the importance of preventative care for women, particularly in relation to breast and cervical cancer. The brigades will provide support for women undergoing treatment and encourage regular self-examinations.

Municipal Health Secretary, José Antonio Uribe Trujillo, stated that up to three medical brigades will be deployed each week. This strategy will ensure comprehensive coverage across Solidaridad, with a focus on areas housing families in vulnerable conditions.

The health brigades will also offer vaccination services against influenza and Covid-19 as part of the National Vaccination Campaign, which runs until March 28, 2025.

The brigades will be staffed by personnel from the Integrated Family Development System of Solidaridad, the Women's Institute, and the Youth Institute. They will offer social assistance services and educational talks on a variety of topics.

To enhance the effectiveness of the brigades, the municipality is collaborating with the State Health Secretariat through Health Jurisdiction 2. This partnership will facilitate vector control programs to prevent dengue cases.

The municipal health director concluded by stating that the brigades will be widely publicized and will operate on weekends to ensure maximum accessibility.
