The Office of the Attorney General in Quintana Roo has announced the arrest of eight individuals suspected of drug trafficking in the Isla Mujeres municipality. These arrests were part of a coordinated effort with the National Guard and the Secretary of the Navy to combat drug-related crimes.
In the first operation, police apprehended five individuals on a beach access path off Rueda Medina Avenue. The suspects, identified as José Antonio N., Yoneli N., Jesús Antonio N., Marco Adrián N., and Christian N., were found in possession of substances believed to be marijuana, meth, and cocaine.
A second operation in the Centro district of Isla Mujeres resulted in the arrest of Joel N., Ricardo N., and Abigail Alicia N. These individuals were found with what appeared to be marijuana and a crystalline substance, possibly another type of drug.
According to initial investigations, the eight detainees are believed to be part of a larger criminal organization involved in drug trafficking throughout the municipality. The Office of the Attorney General continues to investigate the matter.
