The Solidaridad City Council has unanimously approved a proposal for reforms to the Finance and Municipal Income laws for the fiscal year 2025. The proposal will now be forwarded to the XVIII Legislature of the State Congress for further discussion and potential approval.

The proposed initiatives do not include any increase in taxes. Instead, they focus on more investment in social infrastructure projects that will benefit the residents of Solidaridad.

The second extraordinary council session, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, saw council members José Luis Toledo Medina, Juan Novelo Zapata, and Fernando Muñoz Calero, commend the Mayor's initiative to increase tax collection without raising taxes.

Councilman Toledo extended his congratulations to Mayor Mercado and her Treasury team for not considering an increase in the cost of parking spaces by a parking meter concession company.

Councilman Novelo suggested that the funds generated from tax collection should be allocated to essential infrastructure projects. These include potable water, sanitation, and electricity, construction of overpasses and a bypass to alleviate vehicular traffic, as well as promoting the economic and tourism development of the area.

Councilman Muñoz expressed his support for Mayor Mercado, praising her ongoing concern and advocacy for the people of Solidaridad. He described her as a Mayor who is dedicated to fighting for the needs of the less fortunate.
