Van Engulfed in Flames: Mystery Surrounding Abandoned Vehicle in Cancún

In the early hours of Thursday, May 2, a van was engulfed in flames on Rio Hondo Avenue, located in the Villas Otoch Paraíso neighborhood of Cancún. Authorities were alerted to the incident by a 911 call made around 12:54 AM.

Members of the local fire department, known as the Heroic Fire Department, promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. The van, which was found in a green area, was filled with scrap metal, old cans, and trash.

Local residents reported that the vehicle had been abandoned for several years and the owner was unknown. After the fire was extinguished, the firefighters left the area, known as Supermanzana 247, while police stayed behind to conduct further investigations.

It is suspected that the fire may have started from someone setting trash alight. The flames, fanned by the wind, eventually spread to the van. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution, particularly during the dry season when fires are more common in the city.
