A demonstration took place on November 25 in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, where activists from Solidaridad voiced their concerns about the increasing violence against women. Belinda Contreras, a member of the Siempre Unidas collective, emphasized the ongoing fear women experience when walking alone, taking a taxi, or spending time on the beach. The lack of protective measures from authorities only exacerbates this fear.

So far in 2024, Quintana Roo has recorded 24 cases of femicide, underscoring the urgent need for effective action to prevent further incidents. During the demonstration, participants set up spaces for women to share their experiences and emotions. Activities such as embroidery and banner displays were used to condemn gender violence.

Contreras stressed the importance of educating new generations about the rejection of violence. She also highlighted the need to bring attention to emerging forms of aggression, such as digital violence.
