The Strategic Projects Agency of the State of Quintana Roo (AGEPRO) recently participated in the 5th Local Ecological Planning Program (POEL) workshop in Tulum. This involvement aligns with the Quintana Roo government's dedication to sustainable growth and environmental protection. The workshop aimed to engage various sectors in devising strategies to strike a balance between development and sustainability, offering direct benefits to the residents of Quintana Roo.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa's vision of a government that prioritizes social well-being and sustainable development is central to this strategy. The goal is to bridge inequality gaps and secure a prosperous future for all Quintana Roo inhabitants. The POEL is a crucial instrument in preserving Tulum's natural resources and directing its growth towards a more responsible and harmonious model, as outlined in the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo championed by Governor Mara Lezama.
AGEPRO's general director, José Alberto Alonso Ovando, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Collaboration in these spaces is vital to ensure that Tulum's growth respects its natural environment, allowing sustainable development that benefits both the community and the environment." During the workshop, the Environmental Management, Policy and Planning Consultancy S.C. (GPPA) reviewed the progress of previous sessions and introduced the topics for the current edition. The discussions focused on priority areas such as environmental preservation, responsible use of natural resources, and ecosystem restoration.
Among the key agreements reached were proposals to be incorporated into the POEL, aimed at steering Tulum's urban growth in a sustainable direction. These measures will foster a balance between economic development and environmental preservation, promising a prosperous future for upcoming generations.
