Meanwhile, the Mayor of Playa del Carmen has celebrated the enthusiastic response of taqueria owners, chefs, and food enthusiasts to a recent event. The first Taco Festival, which concluded on Monday, was a resounding success, according to Antón Bojórquez, the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction.

The winners of the festival were Gil Márquez of “México” taqueria, who took first place; Erick Anguiano of “Lost Tiki” who came in second; and Claudia Leticia López of "Diegos" taqueria, who secured third place. In addition to public recognition, the winners also received cash prizes.

The festival drew in hundreds of local diners and foreign visitors, all of whom enjoyed the wide variety of tacos on offer. The many presentations, varieties, and flavors of the Mexican taco were celebrated and savored by all in attendance.

The Mayor was joined by the municipal secretary of tourism, Estefanía Hernández, at the awards and recognitions ceremony.
